The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the signing of a contract to construct a new 100-bed hospital in the Rahmaniya al-Shu’la area of Baghdad. The project will be carried out in partnership with two companies, one Iraqi and the other Turkish, with completion expected within three years.

Dr. Wael Al-Kubaissi, Director General of Baghdad Al-Karkh Health Department, told (INA) that the hospital will feature advanced specifications, modern equipment, and specialized medical services. The project is being implemented under the framework of the Iraq–China agreement and is expected to serve a wide segment of residents in Shu’la and Kadhimiya.

He added that Baghdad hospitals provide healthcare not only to nearby residents but also to citizens across the country, depending on available specialties. Al-Kubaissi noted that other major health projects will be completed soon, including Al-Hurriya Hospital with a capacity of 400 beds, and Al-Jawadain Hospital in Sabaa al-Bour, along with several hospital development projects.

According to Al-Kubaissi, these initiatives aim to establish an integrated healthcare system that delivers high-quality services, in line with international standards in contracting and implementation.
