The Central Bank of Iraq announced on Monday its donation of more than 90 billion dinars to support the revival of Al-Rasheed Street, one of Baghdad’s most historic and renowned landmarks.
According to a statement from the bank’s media office, the initiative will include the introduction of a tram line as a distinctive feature in the heart of old Baghdad.
The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Council of Ministers, Baghdad Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, and the Iraqi Private Banks League, which are overseeing the design and implementation.
The Central Bank also highlighted its support for other urban development initiatives, including a contribution of over 3 billion dinars to the House of Cultural Affairs and 2 billion dinars for the restoration of the historic Dar Al-Wali site within the government complex near Al-Qishla.
