The Ministry of Interior on Thursday denied reports circulating on social media claiming that a fixed fee of 500,000 Iraqi dinars would be imposed on vehicle ownership transfer transactions.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry clarified that “the news suggesting that the fee, which allegedly covers seismic, road, and bridge charges, is baseless and inaccurate.”
The ministry further stressed that while it completely rejects these claims, it is working to introduce facilitations regarding fees at the General Traffic Directorate. It also noted that a dedicated law regulates these charges, ensuring that citizens are not subjected to additional costs when completing their transactions.
