The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Saturday that special voting will begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday, with the participation of more than 1.3 million voters across Iraq.
IHEC spokesperson Jumana Al-Ghalai stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that special voting for military personnel will start at 7 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m., involving 1,313,890 military voters. She added that 809 polling centers and 4,501 polling stations have been prepared for this process.
Al-Ghalai also confirmed that special voting for internally displaced persons (IDPs) will take place on the same day, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with 26,538 displaced voters expected to cast their ballots at 27 polling centers and 97 polling stations nationwide.
The special voting phase is part of Iraq’s broader electoral process, aiming to ensure that all eligible voters—including members of the armed forces and displaced citizens—can participate in the democratic process.
