Hamas armed wing says to hand over another hostage body at 1700 GMT

A protester speaks during a demonstration outside the Israeli prime minister's residence in Jerusalem on October 18, 2025, calling for the release of all the bodies of hostages held in Gaza by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Hamas said it will hand over the bodies of two hostages later on October 18, after Israel warned that the main crossing from Egypt into Gaza would remain shut until the Palestinian group returns the remains of all deceased captives. Under a ceasefire deal brokered by US President Donald Trump, Hamas has so far released all 20 living hostages, along with the remains of nine Israelis and one Nepalese.

Hamas’s armed wing said it would return on Monday the body of a hostage recovered the day before as part of a ceasefire deal with Israel.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said it “will hand over the body of an Israeli prisoner, which was exhumed yesterday in the Gaza Strip, at 8 pm Gaza time (1700 GMT)”.

If the handover takes place, it will be the 13th deceased hostage returned by Hamas since the ceasefire took effect on October 10.
