Baghdad Governor Atwan Al-Atwani on Thursday directed a review of the government generator fees in the capital, following thousands of complaints and appeals from citizens regarding the current pricing for September.
A statement from the governor’s media office clarified that the pricing decision was made by the Oil and Energy Committee of the Baghdad Provincial Council, noting that the governorate itself was not responsible for setting the tariffs.
Al-Atwani called on the Provincial Council to reconsider the approved fees, particularly given the increase in hours of national power supply this month due to a drop in temperatures.
The governor reaffirmed his opposition to imposing any financial burdens on citizens, stressing the importance of taking into account the living conditions of low-income families.
