The Directorate of Airport Security and Protection issued a statement on Sunday regarding a shooting incident at Baghdad International Airport.
According to the statement, a police officer from the Federal Police unit assigned to the airport security force sustained a gunshot wound to his leg by accident while performing maintenance on his personal weapon.
The directorate confirmed that the incident was entirely accidental and not related to any hostile act or security breach. It also urged citizens and media outlets to avoid spreading inaccurate information and to rely solely on official sources, stressing that the promotion of rumors could lead to legal accountability.
