The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Monday that students with disabilities covered by the Social Welfare Law will now be fully exempted (100%) from tuition fees, up from the previous 75%.
Ministry spokesperson Haider Al-Aboudi stated that the decision applies to all academic levels in Iraqi universities and aims to support and empower this group to continue their educational journey.
He added that the ministry relies on the database of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to identify eligible students, noting that a joint committee between the two ministries is working to update records and ensure that benefits reach those entitled.
According to Al-Aboudi, this step will help remove obstacles facing students with disabilities and enhance their chances of completing higher education.
