The European Union has summoned Iran’s ambassador in Brussels in response to the government’s handling of nationwide **Iran protests**, an anonymous EU official confirmed on Tuesday.
The move comes as the bloc considers imposing further sanctions on Tehran. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Tuesday that the EU was “swiftly” working on new sanctions, describing the number of individuals killed and wounded in the government’s crackdown as “horrifying.”
