Germany’s foreign ministry confirmed on Tuesday that it had summoned the Iranian ambassador in Berlin, issuing a direct demand for the Iranian government to “end the violence against its own citizens” amid ongoing widespread protests.

In a formal statement posted on the social media platform X, the ministry condemned the Iranian authorities’ response to the demonstrations.

“The Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on its own population is shocking,” the statement read, adding that “the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the foreign ministry today” to receive Germany’s official position on the matter.
