Israel army says it has begun striking Hezbollah targets in south Lebanon

An Israeli soldier rides in the army Merkava main battle tank at a position in northern Israel along the border with southern Lebanon on November 6, 2025. Israel struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on November 6, 2025 as the group rejected the prospect of direct political talks between the countries and vowed to defend itself. Since the start of the ceasefire deal brokered by the US president, Hamas has released the 20 surviving hostages and begun handing over the remains of 28 deceased captives.

The Israeli military said it had launched a series of strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon in Thursday, shortly after issuing evacuation warnings to residents in parts of the area.

“The IDF has begun a series of strikes on Hezbollah military targets in southern Lebanon,” the military said.

The strikes followed evacuation warnings issued by the military to residents of certain buildings in three villages of Taybeh, Tayr Debba and Aita Al-Jabal in southern Lebanon.

In a separate warning, Adraee later called on the residents of certain buildings in a fourth village, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, to evacuate.

Meanwhile, Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian said Israel would take action to ensure the ceasefire in southern Lebanon is upheld.

“Israel will continue to defend all of its borders and we continue to insist on the full enforcement of the ceasefire agreement,” Bedrosian told journalists.

“We will not allow Hezbollah to rebuild.”
