The Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday significant achievements and upcoming projects in the maritime transport sector, confirming a financial growth of more than 50% over the past three years.<\/p>\n
Ministry spokesperson, Maytham Al-Safi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the recent visit of International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dom\u00ednguez to Iraq, and his praise for the country\u2019s maritime efforts, represents \u201ca solid international testimony to Iraq\u2019s seriousness in regaining its position as an active maritime hub in global trade.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that Transport Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi has repeatedly stressed the importance of engaging with the world at a time when the maritime transport sector is expanding globally, especially as Iraq works in parallel on major strategic projects such as the Development Road and the Grand Faw Port. \u201cThis makes maritime transport a fundamental pillar in shaping the future economic landscape of the country,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
According to Al-Safi, Iraq\u2019s maritime revenues recorded remarkable growth:<\/p>\n
174,450,363,717 IQD in 2022<\/p>\n
216,951,924,618 IQD in 2023<\/p>\n
239,263,888,437 IQD in 2024<\/p>\n
This reflects sustainable growth compared to pre-2022 levels, with an overall increase exceeding 50%, attributed to reform policies and a balanced vision.<\/p>\n
