Syria saw two simultaneous security incidents on Sunday, as Israeli forces shelled areas in the western Daraa countryside in the south, while explosions at a Syrian army site near al-Eis in southern Aleppo countryside left four people injured in an initial toll.<\/p>\n
The developments come as Israeli attacks continue in southern Syria, while Syrian authorities respond to the blast site near Aleppo and secure the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
The Syrian Arab News Agency, SANA, reported that Israeli forces struck the outskirts of the villages of Abidin, Maariya, and Al-Ardah in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside with artillery shells.<\/p>\n
SANA said about seven shells were fired at the villages. It added that the shelling also hit the valleys of Abidin and Al-Raqad with several shells, while the outskirts of the village of Jamlah were targeted at the same time.<\/p>\n
According to SANA, Israeli forces also fired from one of their positions on the 1974 disengagement line toward the outskirts of Abidin town.<\/p>\n
The agency said Israel continues to violate the 1974 disengagement agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, arrests, land clearing, and shelling. Damascus said all such actions are invalid under international law and called on the international community to compel Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria.<\/p>\n
In northern Syria, SANA said four people were injured in an initial toll after explosions at a Syrian army site near the town of al-Eis in southern Aleppo countryside early Sunday.<\/p>\n
The agency said internal security forces in Aleppo were put on alert and the Aleppo-Damascus road, along with roads leading to the blast site, were closed to protect civilians and help evacuation teams reach the area.<\/p>\n
SANA quoted Faisal Mohammad Ali, head of Aleppo operations in the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate, as saying Civil Defense teams evacuated the four injured from the blast site.<\/p>\n
He said the continuing explosions initially delayed rescue teams, before Civil Defense units were able to enter the area and remove the injured.<\/p>\n
Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib said relevant authorities were following the situation on the ground and dealing with any emergency, urging residents not to leave their homes or approach the blast site.<\/p>\n
Emergency Minister Raed al-Saleh also said the ministry was monitoring the incident directly and warned people not to go near the site or surrounding areas because shrapnel, unexploded ordnance, and other hazardous materials could pose a direct threat.<\/p>\n
The Early Warning and Preparedness Directorate advised residents to move to a safe location away from the area and avoid using main and side roads leading to the site so emergency vehicles and Civil Defense teams can pass.<\/p>\n
It also told civilians who could not leave safely to stay inside buildings, preferably on the ground floor or in interior rooms, and to stay away from windows, doors, glass, open spaces, and rooftops.<\/p>\n
The directorate stressed that the explosions stopping does not necessarily mean the danger has ended, because unexploded ordnance, debris, and other hazardous objects may remain in the area.<\/p>\n
The incidents in southern and northern Syria highlight the continued instability across the country, with Israeli shelling in Daraa and explosions near Aleppo prompting road closures, evacuations, and warnings for civilians to stay away from dangerous sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
