Southern Syria witnessed a new Israeli incursion on Monday, as Israeli forces entered the western countryside of Daraa and the Quneitra countryside in what Damascus says is a fresh violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement. According to reports cited by QNA, a force of five Israeli vehicles advanced toward the Ghurfat Majham area on the edge of Wadi al-Raqad in western Daraa, where it took position while troops were also deployed around the site. Israeli drones were also reported flying heavily over the village of Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin.<\/p>\n
The move came one day after similar Israeli incursions in the towns of al-Rafid, al-Maqar, and Saida al-Hanut in Quneitra countryside, where Israeli forces searched farms and briefly detained civilians before releasing them and withdrawing. Damascus says the repeated activity reflects an ongoing breach of its sovereignty and of the 1974 disengagement accord.<\/p>\n

On the previous day, the towns of al-Rafid, al-Maqar, and Saida al-Hanut in Quneitra countryside were also subjected to Israeli incursions. Those operations included searches of farmlands and the brief detention of civilians before they were released and the forces pulled back. The repeated pattern suggests that southern Syria remains exposed to continued field violations despite the lack of any sign of de-escalation.<\/p>\n
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the entry of the Israeli defense minister into Syrian territory and his crossing of the international border constituted a blatant violation of Syria\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ministry said the hostile actions amounted to a clear provocation and a breach of international law and the UN Charter, as well as a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement.<\/p>\n
Damascus said the accord requires respect for the ceasefire lines and prohibits crossing them, adding that Israel continues to violate those provisions repeatedly in southern Syria.<\/p>\n
Syria called on the international community to assume its legal and political responsibilities and take the necessary steps to force Israel to stop its violations, withdraw immediately and completely from Syrian territory, return to the disengagement line, and respect Syria\u2019s sovereignty and territorial unity.<\/p>\n
The Syrian government says the repeated ground incursions and airspace violations are a dangerous escalation that threatens stability in the south and increases hardship for residents in border areas.<\/p>\n
