Kuwait\u2019s Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that its State Security service had thwarted a terrorist plot aimed at one of the country\u2019s vital facilities, after close surveillance and monitoring led to the arrest of a citizen before the plan could be carried out.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the ministry said investigations showed the suspect had received training in making explosives and drones, and had built a drone intended for use in the planned attack.<\/p>\n
The ministry said security agencies closely monitored the suspect before taking him into custody, describing the operation as part of pre-emptive efforts to protect internal security and prevent threats against critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n
It added that the suspect was planning to use the drone to target one of the country\u2019s important facilities, without disclosing the exact location or type of site.<\/p>\n
The ministry said the necessary legal steps were taken against the suspect, who was referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and legal action.<\/p>\n
It stressed that its security operations would continue in a pre-emptive manner to monitor and confront any activity or plots that could threaten Kuwait\u2019s security and stability.<\/p>\n
The Interior Ministry said it would deal firmly with any suspicious activity in line with the law, while protecting the safety of citizens and residents and preserving stability across the country.<\/p>\n
In a separate statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency, the ministry said the suspect belonged to ISIS and had trained in making explosives and built a drone to carry out the planned operation.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes as countries in the region continue to strengthen their security and preventive measures against extremist threats and the use of drones in attacks.<\/p>\n
It also reflects the growing reliance on early detection and technical surveillance to prevent attempts to target infrastructure and sensitive facilities.<\/p>\n
