Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that now is the best time for a deal, arguing that current conditions inside the country could help push talks forward and open the door to a settlement.<\/p>\n
In remarks to reporters, Pezeshkian said Iran currently has \u201ccohesion, strength and unity,\u201d which he said could support continued efforts to resolve disputes through negotiation.<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian said the present moment could be an opportunity to continue the path toward an agreement, adding that Iran does not want pressure on its people to increase further.<\/p>\n
He said Tehran wants the other side to recognise and guarantee Iran\u2019s rights, stressing that the country is only asking for the rights of its people and state.<\/p>\n
The Iranian president said issues \u201ccannot be solved by war alone\u201d and that Iran wants to move forward on a peace track based on the provisions of a memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n
He added that Iran would continue negotiations as long as the other side did, but said Tehran would not accept demands that do not lead to real progress.<\/p>\n
On the other side, US Vice President JD Vance said Iran had told Washington it would allow oil to flow at maximum capacity through the Strait of Hormuz, though he said the US did not trust that pledge until it was proven in practice.<\/p>\n
Vance said in comments to reporters that the Iranians \u201care suffering and want this to be over,\u201d referring to the tensions surrounding the strategic waterway.<\/p>\n
Vance added that the United States is working on a plan to ensure safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz, including an Iranian commitment not to fire.<\/p>\n
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world\u2019s most important maritime chokepoints, with large volumes of oil and commercial shipping passing through it, making it a recurring focus of regional tensions.<\/p>\n
The remarks come as regional powers continue to seek arrangements for maritime security in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz, where any escalation could affect global energy markets.<\/p>\n
The exchange of statements between Tehran and Washington also suggests both sides want to keep the door open to dialogue, even as skepticism remains about whether any deal can hold.<\/p>\n
