The developments come amid continuing military escalation and parallel Lebanese-Israeli talks under US mediation in Rome.<\/p>\n
Lebanon\u2019s Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Public Health said Israeli strikes on the Al-Malaab neighborhood in the town of Bint Jbeil injured four civilians, bringing the total number of wounded to eight.<\/p>\n
The ministry had earlier reported four other injuries at the same location, raising the overall toll to eight wounded so far.<\/p>\n
The skies over the city of Tyre and nearby towns saw intense Israeli drone activity, although no additional strikes were immediately announced at that moment.<\/p>\n
Israeli warplanes have intensified strikes on south Lebanon since Wednesday evening, hitting several civilian sites under the claim that they were sheltering militants, according to reports.<\/p>\n
The escalation comes as Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, mediated by the United States, continue in Rome over issues linked to the framework agreement signed on June 26.<\/p>\n
UNIFIL said it observed the Israeli military firing 113 projectiles into south Lebanon on Wednesday, the largest number since the framework agreement was signed.<\/p>\n
The mission said the situation remains fragile despite a decrease in violence compared to previous months.<\/p>\n
It added that commitment to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, along with dialogue and coordination, is essential to reducing escalation and restoring full stability in south Lebanon.<\/p>\n
UNIFIL said it continues to monitor developments, brief the Security Council, and maintain contact with the parties to help reduce tensions.<\/p>\n
The mission also said it continues to track daily airspace violations and military activity on the ground.<\/p>\n
Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement in June under US mediation. The deal includes security arrangements, the redeployment of the Lebanese army in the south, reconstruction of damaged areas, economic recovery measures, and direct communication channels between both sides.<\/p>\n
