Iran and Oman held the first meeting of their joint Hormuz committee in Muscat on Monday, marking a step toward coordinating the future management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, said that an Iranian delegation met with Oman\u2019s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Abdulaziz Al-Hinai, during the visit to Muscat.<\/p>\n
According to his statement, both sides reviewed current issues related to the Strait and exchanged views on its future management.<\/p>\n
The talks were held within the framework of the fifth clause of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n

The talks are connected to the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States on June 18.<\/p>\n
