\nWhile Wall Street recovered part of its earlier losses, European equities fell sharply following a weaker profit outlook from Adidas, and Hungary pressed Russia to maintain stable energy prices despite global disruption.<\/p>\n
US stocks edged higher early Wednesday after a day of losses, supported by signs that oil prices may stabilize following Washington\u2019s latest military posture in the Strait of Hormuz.
\nPresident Donald Trump instructed the US Navy to ensure secure passage for oil tankers in the strategic waterway where traffic dropped significantly due to the ongoing US Israeli siege on Iran. The move eased some market anxiety over supply disruptions that had pushed oil prices upward.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 The Dow Jones slipped 0.2 percent to 48,428.69
\n\u2022 The S&P 500 rose 0.1 percent to 6,820.91
\n\u2022 The Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.4 percent to 22,594.55<\/p>\n
Analysts said markets appeared to be regaining confidence. CFRA Research\u2019s Sam Stovall noted that investors were \u201cshaking off some of the uncertainty surrounding Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n
Private employers added 63,000 jobs in February, beating the projection of 48,000 according to ADP payroll data.
\nOxford Economics said the results reflected an ongoing improvement in the labor market since late last year.
\nHowever the firm warned that geopolitical tensions and shifting tariff policies could weaken business confidence especially among small companies.<\/p>\n
In Germany, Adidas experienced a sharp market downturn after the company projected lower-than-expected profits for 2026 and cited major financial pressures tied to US tariffs and exchange rate volatility.<\/p>\n
The sportswear company said it expects operating profit of 2.3 billion euros in 2026 but warned of a 400 million euro hit driven by US tariffs and the stronger euro.
\nAdidas, which manufactures many products in tariff targeted Asian countries, has been heavily exposed to the trade measures introduced by the Trump administration.
\nIts shares fell roughly eight percent to around 137 euros on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n
Despite the outlook, Adidas posted strong 2025 results:
\n\u2022 Net income jumped 75 percent to 1.34 billion euros
\n\u2022 Sales climbed five percent to 24.8 billion euros
\n\u2022 Both footwear and apparel recorded double digit growth<\/p>\n
The company also extended CEO Bjorn Gulden\u2019s contract until 2030 signaling long term confidence in his leadership following the brand\u2019s recovery from its split with Ye (Kanye West) in 2023.<\/p>\n
Amid rising global energy costs fueled by the Iran war, Hungary called on Russia to keep oil and gas supplies unchanged in price and volume.<\/p>\n
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said during a visit to Moscow that he sought \u201cguarantees\u201d that Russia would maintain its commitments.
\nHungary remains one of the European Union states that continues close energy and political ties with Moscow despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
\nSzijjarto emphasized the importance of stable pricing for Hungary\u2019s domestic energy security.<\/p>\n
