The General Traffic Directorate announced on Saturday the activation of electronic payment of traffic fines through the Ain Iraq application, marking a new step toward simplifying procedures for citizens.<\/p>\n
The electronic payment of traffic fines is part of Iraq\u2019s broader digital transformation plan aimed at improving public services and reducing congestion at traffic departments.<\/p>\n
Officials confirmed that the service is currently available via mobile phones, with more comprehensive digital services set to be introduced in the coming phase.<\/p>\n
Director General of Traffic, Lieutenant General Adi Samir, said the directorate plans to launch the third phase of the new electronic system next month.<\/p>\n
He explained that this phase will include a full digital transformation covering vehicle ownership transfer, registration procedures, and driving license renewal.<\/p>\n
Samir noted that the project represents a major qualitative shift aligned with the government program to adopt modern digital systems to better serve citizens and reduce administrative burdens.<\/p>\n
According to the Traffic Directorate, the new system aims to:
\n\u2022 Reduce overcrowding at traffic offices
\n\u2022 Speed up official procedures
\n\u2022 Ease administrative and financial pressure on citizens
\n\u2022 Improve transparency and accuracy<\/p>\n
Samir confirmed that electronic payment of traffic fines has already begun, allowing citizens to settle outstanding fines directly through the Ain Iraq app using their mobile phones.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the service eliminates the need to visit payment cabins or traffic sectors, saving time and effort for motorists.<\/p>\n
In a related development, Samir said engineering teams continue installing smart cameras and radar systems at intersections and along major roads.<\/p>\n
He added that coverage includes key routes within Baghdad, such as:
\n\u2022 Mohammed Al-Qasim Road
\n\u2022 Al-Qanah Road<\/p>\n
These highways will be monitored using point-to-point systems along their full length, ensuring continuous video surveillance and enhanced road safety.<\/p>\n
