Greenland’s government has confirmed that an increased number of NATO military personnel are scheduled to arrive on the Arctic island “in the coming days” for the stated purpose of conducting training exercises.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Mute Egede announced the development following a recent high-level meeting between officials from the United States, Denmark, and Greenland.<\/p>\n
“Soldiers of NATO are expected to be more present in Greenland from today and in the coming days. It is expected that there will be more military flights and ships,” Egede stated at a news conference.<\/p>\n
This deployment follows announcements from France, Germany, and several Nordic countries of their participation in a European military mission to the autonomous Danish territory.
