Following criticism from the United States regarding its defense of Greenland, Denmark\u2019s Defence Minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, announced on Wednesday that the country will “strengthen” its military presence in the Arctic territory.<\/p>\n
In a statement provided to AFP, Poulsen confirmed Denmark’s plans and its dialogue with NATO allies. “We will continue to strengthen our military presence in Greenland, but we will also have an even greater focus within NATO on more exercises and an increased NATO presence in the Arctic,” he stated.<\/p>\n
The minister’s comments were made hours before a scheduled meeting at the White House between Greenlandic, Danish, and US officials to discuss the future of the autonomous Danish territory.<\/p>\n
