The Iraqi Ministry of Trade on Friday denied circulating claims alleging that the \u201cPremix\u201d additive mixed with flour is unsafe, confirming that the material is subject to strict laboratory testing before being used in production.<\/p>\n
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said, \u201cThe rumors about the Premix additive being unfit for use are completely false. The material undergoes detailed inspections by technical and regulatory authorities prior to being added to the flour mix.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ministry explained that \u201cPremix is a blend of essential vitamins and nutrients added to flour to enhance its nutritional value and support food security in the country.\u201d It noted that all imported shipments are tested by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control and monitored by the State Company for Grain Processing.<\/p>\n
Regarding pricing and procurement mechanisms, the ministry added that it had \u201ccontacted Iraqi commercial attach\u00e9s in several countries to collect offers from reputable global companies and officially launched a tender to ensure the best quality and price, in line with transparency and public interest.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement stressed that reports suggesting the additive poses health risks \u201clack any scientific evidence,\u201d urging citizens and media outlets to verify information through official sources.<\/p>\n
