UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday welcomed Hamas’s declared readiness to release hostages under a Gaza peace deal announced by US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
“The Secretary-General welcomes and is encouraged by the statement issued by Hamas announcing its readiness to release hostages and to engage,” Guterres spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“He urges all parties to seize the opportunity to bring the tragic conflict in Gaza to an end.”<\/p>\n
